Today, Make Spanish Casual continued its community language workshop series with a new event at the Rita & Truett Smith Public Library in Wylie, Texas, welcoming more than 30 children for an afternoon of language learning, creativity, and community connection.
Through interactive Spanish activities, children and families had the opportunity to learn, create, and connect in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Participants practiced Spanish through questions and worksheets, drawing and coloring activities, and other hands-on exercises designed to make language learning both accessible and fun.
This workshop is part of Make Spanish Casual’s growing effort to bring language-learning opportunities directly into communities across different cities and public libraries. Rather than treating Spanish as something that exists only in a classroom, we want children and families to experience language through conversation, creativity, play, and everyday interaction.
Our goal reflects the larger mission of Make Spanish Casual: “Bringing Communities Together Through Spanish and Language.”
Each library workshop gives us an opportunity to reach a new community, encourage young people to become more comfortable using Spanish, and create spaces where people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds can learn alongside one another.
We are grateful to the Rita & Truett Smith Public Library for welcoming Make Spanish Casual and providing a space where more than 30 young participants could come together to learn, create, and enjoy Spanish.
From Plano to Wylie and beyond, we hope to continue expanding this series to libraries and communities across North Texas—one workshop, one family, and one conversation at a time.
Bringing Communities Together Through Spanish and Language.
