Learn by doing

Three ways to make practice casual.

With a partner · 5 minutes

The introduction swap

Take turns greeting each other, saying your name, and sharing one thing you like.

Hola, me llamo ___. Me gusta ___. ¿Y a ti?

“Hi, my name is ___. I like ___. And you?” Switch roles and try again with a different interest.

On your own · 5 minutes

Five things around you

Choose five everyday objects. Find their Spanish names, say them out loud, and write each one with its article.

La mesa. El libro. La puerta.

Come back later and see how many you remember without checking.

With a group · 10 minutes

Act it out

Write familiar actions on slips of paper. One person acts out a word while the others guess in Spanish.

Bailar. Caminar. Leer.

Start with “to dance,” “to walk,” and “to read,” then add your own actions.

A small daily habit

Make room for
10 minutes of Spanish.

Choose a time that fits your day. Repeat this routine with a new topic whenever you’re ready.

  1. 2 minutes: revisit. Say yesterday’s words or phrases aloud.
  2. 3 minutes: notice. Read or listen to a short piece of Spanish and pick out familiar words.
  3. 3 minutes: use. Make three sentences with something you learned.
  4. 2 minutes: remember. Write down one useful phrase to try tomorrow.

A few questions before you start

Do I need to know Spanish already?

No. Start with a greeting, listen carefully, and add one expression at a time. You can use the translations above as support.

What if I make a mistake?

Keep the conversation going. Ask someone to repeat or explain, try the phrase again, and treat each attempt as practice.

Can I use these activities with a class or club?

Yes. Try them in pairs or small groups, adjust the vocabulary to the learners, and invite everyone to participate at a comfortable pace.
